In mass production every second saved is a part produced. The higher your production quantities, the more important it will be that your CNC cycles run as efficiently as possible. Today's market is competitive. Often the only difference between profit and loss is your company's ability to do something a little better or faster than your competition.

 

A Machining Audit helps you to tighten and shorten machining cycle times, and as a result increase the number of parts produced. This is the main objective of Machining Audit.

 

The problem

In mass production, small inefficiencies creep into processes and in course of time, these add up to a considerable amount and pull down the productivity. These inefficiencies can be extra feed motions, unnecessary rapid motions, unnecessarily long dwell times and incorrect feed - speeds. Only periodic reviewing and revamping of the programs and processes can eliminate the accumulated inefficiencies.

 

These inefficiencies are no reflection on your in-house machining skills and your capability to remedy them. Keeping machines running and producing parts is a full time responsibility, which leaves no time for you to pause and correct your CNC methods.

 

 

The solution

Machining Audit serves as a third party inspection of your programs and operations. There are two ways of improving productivity:

1)       Upgrade your CNC machines: shift to high-speed machines, expensive work holding, etc. This calls for heavy investment.

2)       Upgrade your CNC methods: Re-sequence machining operations, weed out wasteful tool motions, improve cutting parameters. This does not call for any investments. What it needs is a close hard look at the existing state of things and a little course correction.

Scope of Machining Audit:

2.       Existing process sheet

3.       Existing tools list

4.       Machine for investigating the existing process.

5.       Machine for trying out the part after machining audit.

6.       Your project engineer for co-ordination and tryout.

 

What we will do:

 

1.       Audit existing tools, operations and program.

2.       Identify and weed out unproductive motions.

3.       Recommend and implement a modified machining sequence.

4.       Recommend and implement improvements in cutting parameters.

5.       Cut the part and prove an improved machining time.

6.       Document the improved methods and submit a detailed report.
