END-OF-SHOW REPORT ON EMO HANNOVER 2001

EMO, which took place on the Hannover exhibition grounds from 12 to 19 September this year, has significantly increased its lead as the world’s flagship trade show for machine tools. the show’s 2,263 exhibitors (1997:2,244)-from a total of 39 different nations-presented the dynamics of machine tool development to approximately 2000,000 visiting trade professionals (1997:179,319).

BRIDGEPORT LAUNCHES NEW ITL 400

Since the first "teach lathes" appeared on the market, little has changed, until now. Bridgeport, a Goldman Industrial Group company, has incorporated the expertise of one of the UK's leading design consultancies and transformed the look and function of teach lathes for ever.

THE FUTURE OF CNC MACHINE TOOL TECHNOLOGY

While CNC technology - coupled with CAD/CAM systems - has long helped introduce an agile alternative to the more conventional rigid manufacturing technology by introducing flexibility in batch production, some major inefficiencies inherent in most machining processes remain.

SINKER PROGRAMMING SYSTEM

Compatible with all ROBOFORM machines, the new Sinker Programming System will make your life much easier. With more functions and new commands to choose from, this innovative solution by CHARMILLES is a dream-come-true to gain time, to maximize machining performance and therefore boost productivity.

  CUTTING TOOLS

HOW TO HARD TURN WITH CBN

The increased productivity of hard turning with PCBN (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride, or more commonly, CBN) inserts has been well documented over the last 2 years: faster cycle times, lower toolchange downtime, less scrap, reduced grinding-machine investment, and if cutting dry, no coolant disposal.

NEW POSITIVE TURNING INSERTS FOR SMALLER COMPONENTS

Sandvik Coromant now expands the program of CoroTurn 107 and CoroTurn 111 positive inserts for turning of smaller components and high feed boring. The sharp, positive insert shape combines low cutting forces with good edge strength. This counteracts vibrations and results in better surface finish and closer tolerances.

OPTIMIZE TOOLPATHS TO MAKE THEM FASTER AND MORE EFFICIENT

By adjusting the feed rates based on cutting conditions and NC tool capacity, OptiPath reduces machining time and increases productivity.
