Fortnightly Ezine on CNC Technology    ~~~~~~~~~    Volume 9 - Issue 10

Date : 17-09-2007

Dear Subscriber,

I hope you all are receiving our Subscriptions regularly now.

Today when we look back into our Feedback Box, we see very few Feedbacks compared to last year. So once again I would like to request you to read the articles and give your opinion on that.

One more thing I wanted to share is that with the festivals round the corner, may be all of us will have some leisure time so we would like to request you to contribute little of your valuable time to make this Magazine very effective for every body.

Regards

Machining with Advanced CO2 Machining Spray Technology

Carbon dioxide (gas, solid, liquid) as a machining fluid and its beneficial impact on machining operations with regards to both lubricating and cooling qualities has been studied for the past 60 years. One of the earliest documented metal cutting processes using a carbon dioxide spray is described by Thompson Products (later TRW) in the early 1950s.1 The literature contains several good examples of the benefits that can be realized with a CO2-based machining fluid.

DONE IN ONE - Multi Tasking Machine

The "DONE IN ONE" concept incorporates all machining processes in just one multi-tasking machine. This concept develops a production system and we support it with our network, support centers, application engineers, support teams and so on. Eventually "DONE IN ONE" concept contributes greatly in a management field.

Understanding Active Scanning Technology: 1

Carl Zeiss has a family of active scanning sensors. The Universal probe head was developed in 1979. Later, our popular VAST in 1994, and recently the VAST XT. Other manufacturers now offer a variety of scanning sensors, but they are passive. Only Carl Zeiss makes active sensors because of technology patents. An active sensor actively generates a measuring force verses a passive sensor has a measuring force generated by a spring force.

How CNC Led To Cells

Clippard Instrument Laboratory Inc. resembles an intermittent job shop. The high-mix, low-volume nature of its parts production—there are about 5,000 standard parts in its catalog—means that it is difficult for the pneumatic device manufacturer to implement “true” lean cells. Instead, the company uses its own brand of lean to make the production process increasingly more responsive.

Delcam’s PowerMILL to support UK’s largest Mecof machine

Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM system will be used to drive the UK’s largest Mecof machine tool, a twelve and a half metre long machine that has been installed by Concept Group International (Cgi) at its purpose-built Coventry, UK, headquarters. This large machine is the latest addition to the 4,000 sq. m Cgi facility, which has been rated by Jaguar Cars Design Director Ian Callum as "one of the most technically advanced in Europe.”
