Meiban Engineering Technologies Pvt Ltd is an associate company of M/s. Murata Machinery Ltd. Japan, a leading manufacturer of CNC machines with high end technology. It is solution provider in the field of automation and turnkey projects for manufacturing automobile and sheet metal components. Meiban Engineering supplies and services sheet metal machines which include CNC Servo Turret Punch presses of various capacities, bending and Laser Cutting machines.
In the metal cutting division, Meiban Engg serves with high end automated twin spindle chuckers for manufacturing automotive components, hydraulic components and bearing components. Meiban has started the localisation of Muratec turning machines on both machine and application side. The company prides itself in being the end-to-end supplier for both sheet metal and turned parts from simple to sophisticated automation solutions.
Started in 2004, Meiban is based in Bangalore, with sales and service offices in Chennai, New Delhi and a sales representative in Mumbai. The 28-member strong team, which is growing by the day, includes 10 factory-trained engineers for pre-sales application and after sales service support along with specialist exclusively to support CAD/CAM for sheet metal application.
“We launched a 30 tonne machine at IMTEX Forming, 2016. This machine can also be called as lean technology machine which is AC servo motor driven and uses no hydraulics. We also launched an All Electric Servo press brake. I can say that the response we received was very good, though we are cautiously optimistic on converting the enquiries into actual sales, as we have to meet them all after exhibition,” the CEO of Meiban Engineering, Mr. A V Srinivasan said while talking to CNCTimes.com during IMTEX.
About the market conditions, Mr. Srinivasan said that everyone had tough time selling the product in the last 3-4 years, though it was not completely zero. “I expect the market to pick up by next financial year as people are now investing and the Union Government has come up with some good policies for the manufacturing sector.”
“However, I think that Indians are more sensitive towards price though all markets are price sensitive. In India, the cost of money is quite high. The customers should not only go only on the basis of price but should evaluate the technology being offered by the machine manufacturer along with the running cost,” Mr Srinivasan said and hoped that the “Make in India” initiative would bring good change. “With this campaign, India will reap rich dividends as people are bringing in capital equipment, which in turn is fuelling the growth of manufacturing industry. Also, it provides employment opportunities and give chance to manufacture quality products. I really hope that it does well,” he added.
As far as vision of Meiban Engineering for next three years is concerned, the company wants to double its turnover and would try to build additional infrastructure. “We are also working on providing up to date training to our people, expand our presence and want to be ready when things become better. Fundamentally, you have to do well. It’s only about finding the way to make it happen and adding more value to your product or services,” Mr. Srinivasan concluded.
