EMO: Machine tool manufacturer HURCO presents its extensive CNC machining offering
At this year's EMO, HURCO, the machine tool manufacturer, is presenting its comprehensive CNC machining offering. You can see its new and updated 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining centers, which show continued improvements in speeding up workpiece throughput. "At EMO, we will be demonstrating new processes for all kinds of applications, including the use of an automation system with loading robot, the Takumi high-speed machine portfolio, and improvements in multi-access machining", reported Michael Auer, HURCO Deutschland's CEO.
Perfect surface quality at high speed
The Taiwanese company Takumi Machinery has been owned by HURCO since 2015. Its high-speed machines achieve exceptionally high surface quality, making them ideal for tool- and mold-making, medical technology and aerospace applications. They come fitted with absolute direct measuring systems, internal coolant feed through the high-speed spindle, direct drives on all axes and electronic temperature compensation as standard.
Automation system with loading robot
HURCO will be demonstrating its VMX 30Ui CNC machining center at EMO, to show how a machine tool can be combined with a loading robot. Then, the automation system with the loading robot loads and empties the machine, speeding up workpiece machining even more. The machine is designed to need short retooling times and less need for training. This makes it possible to perform multi-sided machining in one shop operation without reclamping and makes it easier to step up to 5-axis machining.
New 5-axis machining center with gantry construction
HURCO will also be premiering the Takumi U800 5-axis machining center at the trade fair. Its gantry construction ensures high rigidity and precision, thermal stability and a small footprint. It is equipped with a rotary table (800 mm diameter, 1,000 kg max. table load), and is suitable for large and heavy workpieces. The A-axis with a torque drive on both sides and the C-axis with a torque drive ensure a drive and clamping torque.
Less reclamping due to workpiece handover
HURCO's CNC turning centers were designed for universal turning applications and simplify the transition from manual lathe-work. Workpiece handover means less reclamping. This reduces the potential for errors cause by reclamping inaccuracies. Its small footprint, large working area and chip management system make one-off part and small series production economical.
Change from 3- to 4-axis machining as required
The compact machining centers, with a large working area, in the VMXi series, are ideal for custom or small series production. And they can be used for an even wider range of applications when combined with a Kitagawa GT 200 rotary table, as the fourth axis. When you start processing, up to four sides of a component can be machined at once, without reclamping, and if surface machining is needed on circular components, it can do that too. The additional axis can be installed or uninstalled with ease, to suit current needs.
