Since its incorporation, AMADA has operated according to the motto of "creativity", incorporating it into all of its products. With 70 years of experience in the development of metal working machinery, Amada is confident that it will continuously maintain a spirit of originality, guided with a viewpoint of the end user.
AMADA established Amada (India) Pvt. Ltd. in April 2000, with its office in Mumbai (then) and this is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amada Holdings Co. Ltd., Japan.
To support Indian sheet metal fabrication industry in terms of better fabrication processes, improving workability and skill up gradation, Amada established its own Technical & Vocation center in Bangalore, with an overall investment of INR 120 Cr. This also becomes its HQ & Registered office now. Further, to provide prompt sales and after sales services to its customers, apart from its Technical Center, it established Service Centers in Bangalore Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pune and Vadodara and resident engineers in Kolkata, Nashik and Ahmedabad.
It is a comprehensive manufacturer of sheet metal fabrication equipment such as punching, bending, laser cutting and stamping apart from manufacturing CNC turning and milling machines. The company is 100% subsidiary of Amada, Japan and lays stress on quality manufacturing along with providing unprecedented service to its customers.
Talking to CNCTimes.com at IMTEX Forming, 2016, the President of Amada India, Mr Niraj Seth said that the company launched two machines---fiber laser cutting machine and hybrid bending series (HG) at IMTEX for the sheet metal industry. “With our new fiber laser cutting machine, with 2kw of fiber, we can cut upto 25mm of mild steel. Otherwise, we need 4kw of source to cut 25mm. This way, the running cost is reduced drastically with increased output. It’s probably the first of its kind and it bagged the prestigious MM award at EuroBLECH in Germany in 2014. The other product that we launched at the IMTEX is HG Series which is a press break or bending technology. It’s again a new concept in hybrid drive with a new multi-screen, multi-function controller that can do complex jobs with high speed and high accuracy.”
According to Mr. Seth, the main aim behind Amada participating in the IMTEX is to expose customers using other machines to Amada’s unique technology and get more number of unknown customers so as to extend its reach. “We received good response as Amada is the only company which has invested Rs120 crore in developing a state-of-the-art Technical Center at Bengaluru. At this technology centre, we provide product support, technical know-how support and provide vocational training to operators and maintenance personnel to achieve maximum machine efficiency and return on investment for the owners, since we are the pioneers of sheet metal cutting technology in India with service centre in almost every city. This way, we remain close to our customers,” he said.
Commenting on the current market situation, Mr Seth said, “It was very good in 2014-15 as we witnessed a jump of 30% percent, but this year may see increase of 20-25% percent. There are other factors such as exchange rate, rupee devaluation that has affected the market a lot. If these things are brought under control, then the market will be very good.”
“Though Indian market is very price sensitive, it teaches the world a lot. Since last couple of years, the people are looking for quality products than mere pricing. It’s a high technological field and most customers are now asking for better quality products along with strong service backup” Mr Seth said and added that Amada India supports the Make in India campaign indirectly. “Though we don’t manufacture machines in India, but we do support the campaign with better product design and easier manufacturing process. We import the machines, but do support the Make in India campaign.
“We are focusing on skill development and our endeavour will be to improve the customers’ profit. The first step towards this is setting up of Technical Center in Bengaluru. These are high technology machines and the best training should be given to the personnel. Make in India with good quality should be the aim so that we can export our products to European countries as well as the USA,” Mr Seth said and concluded that Amada India’s aim in next couple of years will be to launch new products that will facilitate easy production and better productivity so as to give advantage to the customers.
