Mastercam, Tata Technologies to now skill the workforce and youth of Assam

In partnership with Tata Technologies, Mastercam India is delighted to announce the signing of MoA between the Govt. of Assam and Tata Technologies to upgrade ITI’s and Polytechnics in Assam. Mastercam will supply the latest versions of its CAD/CAM software, courseware and knowledge to 34 State Polytechnics and 43 ITIs. This announcement comes on the heels of recent successes with the Government of Karnataka, in upgrading Government run ITIs across the state and an MoU with the Government of Bihar, for a similar initiative in the month of February 2022.

Tata Technologies, along with 20+ Global Technology Partners, including Mastercam India, in collaboration with various state governments and private institutions are sowing the seeds to upgrade technology, curriculum, equipment and infrastructure across ITIs, Polytechnics, Engineering Colleges and Universities in the country.

Mastercam has been at the forefront of skill development, working with various organisations across the globe like WorldSkills, EdgeFactor, Titans of CNC Academy and MFG Day, as also, sponsoring academic competitions such as SAE International, MARS Society, NASA Hunch, First Robotics and the Masters of CAM – Wildest Parts Competition.

Educators choose Mastercam to introduce students to manufacturing and provide practical skills and experience using the same CAD/CAM software that runs manufacturing processes in leading and large organisations, as also smaller job shops. It is therefore no surprise that Mastercam has been the #1 most widely used CAM software, as per CIMData, for 27 years in a row!

The MoA with the Government of Assam was signed in the august presence of the honourable Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and other dignitaries from the Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department, Government of Assam.

Interestingly, Assam is the third state in the country to sign such an MoA, making it one of the top three states in the country to have progressive plans in upskilling and cross skilling the youth of the state in the manufacturing domain.

The honourable Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Sarma, had recently asked the Industry Department to frame a new policy to promote local start-ups. Following the launch of two new schemes recently, through the state’s startup incubation centre, “The Nest”, Assam is all set to empower young entrepreneurs to combine manufacturing engineering with Agri and Horticulture initiatives. This MoA further strengthens these initiatives with the availability of trained manpower, in various manufacturing practices who will be industry ready – armed with concurrent technology and knowledge, graduating from these ITIs, each year.

Accordingly, the upgraded CoEs at these state-run Polytechnics and ITIs will offer a wide variety of upskilling and cross skilling courses that will fortify the processes of existing industries in the region, such as Tea Processing, Food Processing, Handicrafts, etc., while at the same time also, becoming growth catalysts for modern manufacturing using Industry 4.0 tools and techniques, empowering the northeast region of India.

Well-deserved congratulations to the Government of Assam, for being the third state in the country to take futuristic progressive steps, in upskilling the state’s youth in embracing technology education of the future.
