When you need perfectly straight, smooth holes, not all drills can cut it. The deeper you go, the greater the chance for stability or chip control issues to occur. What happens if you then introduce uneven forces to the cutting edge like drilling through cross holes or exiting on an angle? If you don’t have a good point design, the drill can walk and if you don’t have good chip control, those chips may begin to have evacuation issues.

KYOCERA SGS Precision Tools developed the HI-PERCARB® 142P coolant-through drill with unique features to combat many of these issues. The stability of the drill and its ability to stay centered and cut evenly through the material make the 142P a versatile tool for any machinist’s tooling arsenal. The high-performance point design stabilizes on entry for exceptional hole size and cylindricity while also allowing for low thrust force and extended tool life.

The 142P’s 4-margin tip design is engineered to continually provide excellent hole straightness and roundness even when encountering the uneven forces associated with cross holes or exiting on an angle. KYOCERA SGS offers these drills in 4 lengths of cut up to 12xD and are prioritized for steel but also work well in other materials.

Key features:

146U and 136U Drills allow the product to offer application benefi­ts not only beyond that of standard carbide drills, but also other high-performance drills.

Each feature of the Hi-PerCarb® Series 146U and 136U Drills was uniquely engineered as a solution towards addressing the issues commonly encountered during high production drilling.

A unique coolant channel design allows repositioning of the trailing margins for improved stability over conventional two and four margin drills.

Eccentric style clearance reduces margin contact with the workpiece without reducing strength.

The primary only relief allows the trailing margins to help stabilize the drill up to three times faster than conventional designs.

High shear corner geometry minimizes exit bur.

Computer-controlled edge hone protects against edge chipping in diffi­cult applications.

COOLANT CHANNELS

The two-channel design provides additional coolant in the hole when thru-tool coolant is not available.

COATING AND CARBIDE

Proprietary SGS Ti-NAMITE®-X coating and post-coat polishing combine to minimize material adhesion and maximize wear resistance in a wide range of workpiece materials. All series 146U and 136U drills are manufactured from lab certifi­ed premium quality carbide.
