Mitutoyo South Asia Pvt. Ltd. (MSA) was established in 1996 and is headquartered in New Delhi. The direct entry by Mitutoyo Corporation, Japan established a regional headquarter in South Asia for enhanced customer support. Mitutoyo’s history in India dates back to the mid-1960s when it started selling small tools in India through agents. In 1989, a Mitutoyo representative office was established to provide technical support for its comprehensive range of precision instruments. Along with the office, a Mitutoyo Measurement Metrology (M3) solution centre was opened in New Delhi allowing customers to view the Mitutoyo products and provide them with effective solutions for their manufacturing needs. This facility was the first of its kind in India during the time demonstrating Mitutoyo’s commitment to customer needs.
Today, MSA has 7 sales and service locations across India covering all major industrial belts wherein 100 people are working while four resident engineers from Japan are permanently in place. There are now four established M3 solution centres strategically located across South Asia. The company laboratory is one of the finest in South Asia with a NABL certification guaranteeing the best measurement capabilities by national/international standards.

Speaking to CNCTimes on the sidelines of IMTEX 2015 at Bengaluru where the company launched Quick Image a non-contact one touch measurement along with two height gauges, Mitutoyo’s Country Head (Sales) of India, Mr Milind Chitre said that the company got positive response for the products they launched at the biennial exhibition. “At the IMTEX, we can showcase our latest products apart from meeting old and existing customers. The kind of response we got from the industry shows that Indian economy is positive and meeting the challenges posed by world leaders,” Mr Chitre said.
“Also the Indian market is extremely price sensitive since the customers have become very much technology savvy and do a lot of research before finalising any product. This is a sign of growth and helps the company like our as we are not only selling the products, but measuring solutions,” Mr Chitre said. On technological advancements in the country, he said that Mitutoyo has been investing a lot on research and development and is a pioneer in the field of nano technology .
“The company’s USP has been providing measurement solutions at an affordable cost and very low maintenance. This is being achieved through our dedicated workforce from New Delhi, Vadodara, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru , Kolkata and Coimbatore,” Mr Chitre said and concluded that since September 2014, Japanese export control regulation are much more accommodating, Mitutoyo in India is able to sell nearly all their products easily which will result into regaining and increasing the market share.
