Hexagon Metrology has launched the latest model in its popular portable measuring arm range. The ROMER Absolute Arm Compact uses industry-proven technology from the ROMER Absolute Arm range to provide high-tolerance 3D measurement in a 1.2 m volume for use even in confined spaces.
With the highest accuracy, the ROMER Absolute Arm Compact is a reliable alternative to manual tools. A counterweight system enables use without mountings and absolute encoders mean no referencing is required so it can be placed on any surface and switched on ready to measure. Compatibility with ROMER Absolute Arm feature packs allow wireless battery-powered operation for maximum portability on the shop-floor.
A replacement for the ROMER MultiGage, the ROMER Absolute Arm Compact is available in two models and can be certified to ISO 10360-2 or B89.4.22. Usability features include automatic probe recognition to ensure repeatable results for different probes without calibration and haptic feedback to alert users if an axis limit is reached, eliminating the risk of bad measurements. The ROMER Absolute Arm Compact is also compatible with all major metrology software packages.
“The ROMER Absolute Arm Compact is a really convenient way to take high-tolerance 3D measurements in the workshop,” said Mr Stephan Amann, Product Line Manager at Hexagon Metrology. “It is an easy-to-use switch on and go system that quickly and accurately performs tasks usually carried out manually. It is perfect for on-machine verification, fixture positioning or in-process inspection and is an excellent complement to a stationary CMM.”
The ROMER Absolute Arm Compact will be available worldwide immediately, with orders accepted through Hexagon Metrology and authorised dealers.
