Okuma’s ‘OSP suite’ wins new product award

Okuma’s “OSP suite” next generation CNC received the Monozukuri Prize at the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun’s (Business & Technology Daily News) 2014 Best 10 New Product Awards. Best 10 New Product Awards are given to selected products for their contributions to the development of manufacturing and strengthening of Japan's international competitiveness. Winners are chosen from among all products developed and in practical use in a given year. This is Okuma’s eleventh product to receive the Monozukuri Prize.

The OSP suite combines Okuma's package of Intelligent Technology that is revolutionising production with the digital information and applications needed in “monozukuri.” It is a next-generation intelligent CNC in which the CNC device has evolved from a machine controller into a “monozukuri” controller with a new, user-friendly “suite operation” system.

Okuma’s continually evolving intelligent technologies—the Thermo-Friendly Concept, Collision Avoidance System, Machining Navi, and 5-Axis Auto Tuning System—together with application software to solve customers’ shop floor problems, are provided as premium solutions that contribute to customers’ production innovations. “Suite apps” combine these intelligent and information applications in the best possible way, making them a pleasure for operators to with “suite operation.” Machining operations can be performed with a new feeling suited to manufacturing floors, while a creative operation environment is achieved through free creation of operation screens.
