Robots at the ready: KUKA at EMO 2017

KUKA Roboter GmbH is at EMO Hannover 2017 to unveil a whole host of new solutions for the metal industry, ranging from the "ready2_use" package for straightforward robot integration to a fully comprehensive milling application.

Naturally, there was no real expectation that the involvement of Chinese investors would impact on the innovative prowess of KUKA Roboter GmbH, based in Augsburg, Germany - and at EMO Hannover 2017, the company is once again clearly demonstrating that it still very much has what it takes. KUKA's stand in Hannover focuses in particular on user-friendly automation solutions. "The metal industry's current challenge is to organize production cost-effectively to meet local needs as closely as possible. This can only be achieved with intelligent, robot-based automation. To satisfy these demands, we offer our customers made-to-measure solutions," says Winfried Geiger, Business Development Manager at KUKA Roboter GmbH.

At the heart of this strategy are solutions whose names are preceded by "ready2", which in itself signals how far customers are supported in the automation process. KUKA's "ready2_grip" and "ready2_pilot", for example, are two user-friendly, preconfigured and coordinated automation packages that can be integrated directly and seamlessly into existing production environments. KUKA's other exhibits also include its KUKA.CNC Sinumerik control software that enables operators to control robots using the familiar Siemens CNC control system range without needing robotics expertise themselves.
