Siemens today announced it has been named by Gartner, Inc. as a Leader in its 2017 Magic Quadrant for Manufacturing Execution Systems. In the Magic Quadrant, Gartner, a leading worldwide IT research and advisory firm, evaluates vendors based on completeness of vision and ability to execute. In this year’s Magic Quadrant for Manufacturing Operations Management, which is the inaugural release of this Magic Quadrant, companies were assessed on ability to execute, whose criteria cover product or service, overall viability, sales execution/pricing, market responsiveness/record, marketing execution, customer experience, and operations. This aspect is assessed along with completeness of vision, whose criteria cover market understanding, marketing strategy, sales strategy, offering (product) strategy, business model, vertical/industry strategy, innovation and geographic
strategy.
“We believe this recognition by Gartner is a clear testament to the strength Siemens has established in the area of manufacturing execution systems, which has grown into a key segment of our end-to-end digital innovation platform,” said Rene Wolf, senior vice president of Manufacturing Operations Management Software for Siemens PLM Software. “Supporting a broad range of customers across multiple industries, we are driven to continue to invest in and develop robust solutions for manufacturing execution and manufacturing operations management, and help our customers reach the maximum quality and production optimization across global facilities.”
Siemens holds a unique position in the manufacturing market by providing a holistic software solution that can support the entire value chain, from product design and simulation to production design, simulation execution, and automation, plus plant hardware, coupled with MindSphere, the open cloud-based operating system for the IoT.
Siemens entered the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) space in 2001. Since then, Siemens has continued to invest in and reinforce its MES/Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) portfolio, both broadening the functional scope (MES, APS, QMS) and tuning the offering to fit the requirements of different industries. The portfolio has wide recognition and a solid install base, serving major players in industries such as A&D, Automotive, Industrial Machinery, CPG, F&B, Life Sciences, Electronics, Semiconductor, and Medical Devices. With the acquisition of Mentor Graphics in 2017, Siemens adds Valor to its MES portfolio, reinforcing its value to the electronics industry and its strategy in the MES space.
