Smart Industry Solutions India featuring Future Factory marks its launch in Mumbai

Frost & Sullivan launches white paper focused on the future of factories and impact of automation in Indian market at the fair

Day one unveils Humanoid Robot, VR, 3D technologies and more...

Tech-giants Siemens, Bosch, Cisco, Reliance Unlimited, HP- Imaginarium, Pilz India and Pepperl & Fuchs have come together for the launch of Smart Industry Solutions India (SIS India) which opened its doors in Mumbai today. Spread across 3200 sq mts of gross exhibition area, SIS India showcases the latest advancements by these leading technology players at an exclusive ‘Future Factory Zone’ as well as intelligent manufacturing solutions from companies in India, Taiwan, Korea and Italy together with companies representing Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and six start-ups among others.

Inaugurated at the hands of Dr Sanjay Gupta, Director, Software Technology Parks of India, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, this key business event for manufacturing sector also saw the launch of a White Paper focused on the future of factories and impact of automation in Indian market by Frost & Sullivan.

Addressing the media and other eminent members present at the inauguration Mr Aroop Zutshi, Gobal Press and Managing Partner, Frost & Sullivan said: “India is emerging as one of the fastest growing economies and in the next 10 - 15 years we could be in the top three economies of the world showcasing a tremendous opportunity to become global manufacturers. The sector is expected to contribute 25% to the GDP by 2025 with the adoption of automation and IoT.” Frost and Sullivan estimates the potential IoT market size to be about USD 4.17 billion, expanding at a CAGR of 26.1% to reach 16.7 billion by 2022. “The future of IoT is very robust and large and medium sized companies will adopt IoT first.”

Also present at the inauguration were some of the industry’s well-known figures, show organisers, and technology experts:

Inaugurating the STPI Pavilion at the fair which brings together MSMEs on the same platform as the big tech-giants, Mr Sanjay Gupta, shared: “The Indian software and IT companies have grown from USD 385 million in 1992 to USD 154 billion in 2017. In 1991, the contribution of the Indian IT industry in GDP was 1.2% and this sector contributed to 7.7% in Indian GDP. The manufacturing sector is the major focus of the government. Make in India, Digital India, Start - up India and Design in India are the government initiatives to drive IT, ITES, EDSM and start –up ecosystem.”

Day one of the business fair also put the focus on rise of machines and robotics with a special unveiling of the famed Humanoid DA-2 Mr Sudhir Kadam from Silicon Valley, USA. Alongside the showcase, Mr Kadam will be addressing the delegates on "Confluence of IIoT, Mixed Reality, AI and Robotics in Cyber Physical Systems for Factory Automation” making it the perfect fit for the event’s focus on future factories on 14 December. 

While technology disruption, role that big data and the IoT would play, and people and skill centricity despite all these developments were the recurring themes at day one of the conference, day two is set to highlight the Roadmap for implementation of “Industry 4.0” in line with mission “Make in India” as well as the eco-system for large companies and start- ups and co-create the future. Besides the sessions and panel discussions, the platform also invites five minute pitches by top start-ups in manufacturing technology from India and will announce winners at the fair.

The exhibition is being jointly organised by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd and Thinc - The International Collaborative together with German companies Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH and P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG. Located in hall 7A of Bombay Exhibition Centre, visitors can see and explore these technology innovations until 15 December 2017.
