“Our vision is to grow to three times our present strength globally by 2020, both in terms of revenue as well as offerings, so that we become a name to reckon with in the manufacturing sector. As far as India is concerned, we would like to integrate into the market and be part of country’s economical and sectoral growth,” Country Manager (India) of Hardinge, Mr Ashish Lala said while speaking to CNCTimes during IMTEX 2015.
“Towards achieving this, Hardinge Inc participated in the IMTEX 2015 show to reposition itself and compete with other global players even as Hardinge is not new to the Indian market. The Indian market sentiment is getting better with each passing day which is reflected in the Q3 results posted by the companies,” Mr Lala said and added that Hardinge had demonstrated the latest H51 Super-Precision turning center and the Conquest V1000 machining centre at the recent IMTS show.
He said that the world is looking at India as the next best destination for manufacture and assembly of machine tools even as Indian manufacturers are now matching global standards. “As far as price is concerned, I don’t believe that cost is the only factor in the Indian market since those who want to purchase sophisticated machines are doing so irrespective of the price. But, the automotive and die-mold industry is surely price sensitive since in that industry, many people want the best machining solutions but are not willing to shell out money. They don’t realise that they get what they pay for,” Mr Lala said and reiterated that Hardinge is committed to provide the best machining solutions to the industry along with prompt after-sales service.
