CNC programming and applications made easy

Nothing fosters a true understanding of machine tools and the latest advancements in metal cutting like experience. By participating in live trainings, operator development courses at the centre for multi-tasking and manufacturing excellence, the workforce will gain invaluable expertise.
Keeping this in mind, CNCTimes.com along with Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) organized a three day training course in CNC Programming and Applications. The course aimed at giving participants an on-job training of various applications so that they can implement the same in their day-to-day schedule.
The course covered topics such as basic requirements of machine, operator check points before starting the machine, HAAS CNC control panel layout: explanation, startup and zero return, operating modes – Jog, Position, MDI, offset and list of programs, offset setting - tool offset and work co-ordinates offset, Editing: creating a new program by using insert, alter, delete & undo keys, searching & replace functions, background editing feature, program copy & paste in between programs, data transfer between machine memory & USB device, graphic simulation etc.
It also covered other topics such as Programming Structure & Execution, Program sequence step by step, Execution of programs in single block / auto mode, Override key functions: Rapid Traverse, feed & Spindle speed overriding by steps/hand wheel, Functions of Single block, optional Stop, Dry run & block delete in program, Preparatory and Miscellaneous functions, Often used G (Preparatory) & M (Miscellaneous) codes, Application wise programming examples for lathe & mill (Visual Quick Code generation), Explanation of programmable controlled work & tool offsets, Use of local sub-routines & sub program in list program etc.
The participants were given practical training on Haas CNC machine and the speaker, Mr. Ashish Chikhale, Deputy General Manager, HFO Mumbai, explained in details each and every application for the participants to understand.
