“Our consistent goal is to continually improve the quality, performance and reliability of our products,” said, Mr. Dinesh Mehra, Business Head Asia & SAARC countries, Revware Inc. in conversation with CNCTimes.com

The Excerpts:

Can you please tell me something about Revware?

Revware began as a 3D software reseller in 1992 and almost immediately we started creating our own 3D modeling software to sell. Revware was the first to introduce CAD-based reverse engineering software in 1993 and showed the world the power of combining our software with 3D digitizers to do real-time data collection and model creation.  In 2009 we expanded through acquisition to provide 3D digitizing hardware along with our software.  Now we provide complete measurement solutions.

What makes Revware unique, given the fact that there are many metrology solution providers globally?

Revware is unique as a company, and our MicroScribe portable CMM is unique among all competitive offerings.  As a metrology company, Revware is by far the smallest, yet we have managed to successfully serve the global market for more than 25 years.

We have traditionally focused on markets that the big players cannot serve because of the high cost of their systems. Our flagship hardware product, the MicroScribe portable CMM, is the least expensive, most portable, and easily used for all similar product offerings.

Our MicroScribe PCMM is also unique in how easily it can be integrated into other software and systems.  The MicroScribe software integration tool is extensive, easy to use, and has been applied by many commercial companies, institutional researchers, and even individuals to create an incredible diversity of 3D modeling solutions.

What sort of demands do you see in the metrology industry particularly in India?

The need for metrology solutions within the manufacturing disciplines is expanding worldwide, especially now in fast-growing manufacturing economies like India.  Evolving quality control standards and requirements demand effective metrology tools. The economic pressure to manufacture products quickly, without error, means that even the smallest of shops must consider how they can use metrology solutions to improve the quality of their products and stay competitive.

What are the challenges faced by metrology industry especially in the Indian market can they overcome these challenges and how?

The first-time addition of a metrology solution in a business requires a significant increase to overhead cost, not just for the equipment and software, but also for training and lost productivity while learning to employ the new tools effectively.  It takes a painful amount of time to see a return on investment, especially for smaller manufacturers.

As a small company, Revware intimately understands this.  We strive to keep the cost of our products as low as we possibly can while maintaining a high level of quality, and we offer solutions at the right scale of cost and complexity to meet the needs of companies that are just starting metrology integration.

How important is India as a growth market for you?

India is a very important growth market for Revware. The size of the market and speed of growth in India are of course a strong draw.  Our desire to be active in India is supported by the strong cultural ties that help make India a welcoming place to establish roots. Looking forward to expansion in the larger Asian region, India is the natural place to grow from.

Do you think SME’s in India are ready to adopt high-end Revware products?

The measure of Revware products as “high-end” may be true when comparing to the costs of calipers and pin gauges, but when comparing to other productivity solutions for reverse engineering and metrology, Revware products offer the highest quality and reliability for the lowest cost.  The adoption of metrology solutions to improve manufacturing quality continues to spread in the Indian market, but these systems are typically very expensive and targeted at the larger manufacturers. Smaller companies feel the same pressures to better manage quality in production, but with much more limited budgets. This is where Revware products step in to fill this affordability gap so that small companies can be competitive in the larger marketplace.

What is company’s overall strategy with regards to marketing and branding?

I feel every brand makes a promise, so with Revware, my idea focuses on the evaluations of success as it relates to the ability to make money and do well in the world. “I am enthusiastic about the prospect of promoting my brand through all the possible modes of digital Marketing or Online Marketing to increase our visibility Around the Globe”.

At Revware serving our users has always been our primary approach to generate or increase recognition of our product.

What are the plans of Revware for the next 5 years?

Our consistent goal is to continually improve the quality, performance, and reliability of our products. The base expectation is that we will be producing even better MicroScribe CMMs, software, and accessories five years out.  Larger volume and more accurate products are a natural outcome of this effort.

We are constantly performing research and experimentation to improve our current products and to expand our product offerings.  In the end, though, what we provide as new offerings will be driven by customer demand.  I firmly expect that the Indian market will be a great driving force in deciding what shape Revware’s product lines take over the next five years.
