In conversation with CNCTimes.com during IMTEX Forming, 2016, the Managing Director of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence (India), Mr. Anup Verma throws light on various aspects such as market behavior, Make in India campaign etc. The readings in first person:
At IMTEX, 2016, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence (HMI) launched two products---the first one is Global EVO which is a machine with new technology to isolate vibrations of machine for better accuracy, high speed and high scanning. The second product launched at IMTEX is a scanner on small arm for more accuracy. I must say that we received a good response for the product lines that we displayed at the annual expo.
Market Watch
Despite the fact that the Indian market is yet to pick up from last year’s ‘slump’, we are doing better. Nevertheless, we at Hexagon are witnessing good sales but hope to see a higher growth in 2016. I think when the government investment in the infrastructure etc starts we will see better prospects in 2016. We will then hopefully see improved investments in the private sector. The push should be given by the government which will be then carried forward by the private players.
Make in India
While the government is doing its every bit by launching the Make in India campaign, the private players are a bit cautious about the same. Ever since the campaign was announced, its effect is yet to be seen at ground level. The impact is positive only for bigger companies while small players are still waiting to be benefitted. We can’t expect turnaround in such short span and we need to be patient as far as development is concerned. We are realistic and think that speedy development should happen at ground level.
Is Price the Only Factor?
As far as purchase pattern of Indians is concerned, there is not much change as they remain to be sensitive towards prices. It’s very hard to get value for the technology.
Manufacturing Intelligence
However, we are optimistic that this pattern will change and keeping this in mind, we now are called Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. With various technologies on board, including software helping the manufacturing process, it is a step towards the direction of going into environment where we can help process control and being solution oriented. Sensing, thinking and acting is our goal. We think that less rejection of technology means better productivity. We are broadening our approach towards helping manufacturing, and it is not limiting ourselves to maintaining the quality, but we are going beyond that so that the process is improved.
